This representation of a diesel vehicle may seem like an exaggeration, since the modern diesel engines running on the roads fulfill the Euro5-6 environmental protection standard. - Will it be fulfilled? - We will cover this in more detail in the Technical information section, here in short only that the flue gas treatment is practically ineffective during a cold start, the flue gas treatment system cannot handle the sudden burst of gas (smoke plumes) and the particle filter regeneration = what the system has filtered in the city, the outside the city, it releases smoke into the environment.                                                                                                                 it is checked during the technical test only when idling...

  • A problem that occurs from time to time in the operation of older diesel vehicles with expired warranty is the failure of the injector, the high-pressure fuel pump, the turbocharger, the EGR system, and the exhaust gas treatment system. 

  • In many cases, the repair of faulty diesel parts requires a special service, it is quite expensive, and during the waiting and repair time, which often lasts several days, the vehicle stops, i.e. does not produce.

 

The annual impact of these costs depends on several factors. Highlighting only a few of them:​

  • quality of regular inspection and maintenance

  • the quality of the components and the method of installation

  • the operating conditions

  • fuel quality

Skipping the cost analysis, we simply list the net market price of the main typical components:

  • 6 injectors new: HUF 800, refurbished with spare parts: HUF 360

  • high-pressure fuel pump new: HUF 480, refurbished: HUF 240

  • EGR valve and cooling insert: HUF 600

  • AdBlue dispenser: HUF 200, NOx sensor: HUF 300

  • SCR catalyst: HUF 1m, factory cleaning/other: HUF 400/HUF 150

  • Particle filter new: HUF 1m, factory cleaning/other: 40HUF 0/HUF 150

Of course, add the service fee and lost time to theset. Existing strategies:

  • Basically, factory parts, factory renovations, regulations and the environment come first

  • Repair as cheaply as possible

  • Unless it is checked thoroughly

As a result, all operators move on the following approximate annual cost scale:

It may seem like an exaggeration to depict an LPG vehicle like this, but if you think about it, we eat in our kitchen next to a similar LPG engine (the PB gas stove!) and it doesn't even occur to us that this would be harmful to the environment or health. Let's mentally try this in a Diesel engine kitchen...

  • The LPG engine also has moving, wear and tear parts

  • Their replacement and repair do not require special service and repair time is minimal

 

The annual impact of these costs also depends on several factors. Highlighting only a few of them:​

  • quality of regular inspection and maintenance

    • with telemetry, error phenomena can be detected from a distance

  • the quality of the components and the method of installation

    • no refurbished, just new parts, installation is easy

  • the operating conditions

    • the motor cannot be overloaded​

  • fuel quality

    • no "uncovered" LPG, can only be filled at wells, high quality ​

We list the typical net market price and expected lifetime of LPG system components:

  • 6 LPG injectors: HUF 60 - 100 ekm 

  • 6 spark plugs: HUF 18 - 50 ekm

  • With 3 ignition transformer cables: HUF 48 - 200 ekm

  • LPG reducer: HUF 30 - 200 ekm

  • 2 lambda probes: HUF 30 - 200 ekm

  • NO flue gas treatment system = HUF 0

 

To these, of course, add the service labor fee, which is a fraction of the diesel repair, and the occasional replacement time of 30 minutes - 2 hours, which can be performed in the field. 

 

There is only one existing strategy: everything new!
